PLAY IT SAFE FAMILY SAFETY DAY SLATED FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11;
EVENT TO FEATURE 9-11 MEMORIAL COMMITTEE TRIBUTE TO
OFFICER JEFF SHAW

Warsaw, Indiana – Play It Safe Family Safety Day, the popular event sponsored by Kosciusko REMC and the Warsaw/Wayne Fire Territory, is slated for Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Warsaw’s Central Park and Pavilion. This is the third year the electric cooperative and the fire territory have worked together to present this day of fun, family friendly safety education. The event is slated to run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Joining the event in 2010 will be the 9-11 Committee Memorial, which will take place at 3:15 p.m., immediately following the conclusion of Family Safety Day activities. This year’s memorial will feature a special tribute to Kosciusko Sheriff Department Officer Jeff Shaw who lost his life in the line of duty in 2009. Shaw’s name will be added to the 9-11 Memorial located in Central Park.

“Play It Safe Family Safety Day is a great day of safety education activities involving KREMC, and our area’s law enforcement, fire fighting, and emergency service departments,” said KREMC Manager of Marketing and Communications Doris Lemert. “Having the 9-11 Memorial Committee present their annual tribute at the end of our event was a logical tie-in. We hope our communities turn out in force to honor Officer Shaw, and enjoy the day’s activities.”

Mike Cox, chairman of the 9-11 Memorial Committee noted, “By joining forces, we can celebrate the fun of Family Safety Day, and also honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in service to both our country and our county.”
