NORTHEAST INDIANA TOUCHSTONE ENERGY COOPERATIVES HELP SPONSOR CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK “MAJIC RILEY RADIO-THON”
Warsaw, Indiana – Northeast Indiana’s Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives, which includes Kosciusko REMC, Warsaw; LaGrange County REMC, LaGrange; Noble REMC, Albion; Northeastern REMC, Columbia City; Steuben County REMC, Angola; and United REMC, Markle, worked together to help sponsor the “Majic Riley Radio-thon” on September 9 and 10. The radio-thon, which aired on WAJI “Majic 95.1” FM, benefitted Riley Hospital for Children, one of the nation's leading pediatric hospitals and Indiana's only comprehensive hospital dedicated exclusively to the care of children.
The Radio-Thon was part of the Children’s Miracle Network of fundraising events to benefit children’s hospitals across the country. Every year Riley provides compassionate care, support and comfort to children and their families, serving over 215,000 inpatients and outpatients from across Indiana, the nation and the world.
“Our six co-ops signed on for this event because more than 7,000 children from northeastern Indiana are served by Riley,” said Kosciusko REMC Manager of Marketing & Communications Troy Cozad. “When we were presented with this sponsorship opportunity, all of us knew we wanted to get involved. Riley serves kids from each of our service areas, and we’re all committed to helping our communities. Helping fund this radio-thon, which raised funds for Riley, was a natural fit.”
Majic 95.1 is a leading radio station in the northeastern Indiana area, with its broadcast signal covering the area served by the six co-ops. The two-day event raised $120,244 for the hospital. Lemert and Holly Huffman from the Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives helped field listeners’ phone call donations at Riley during the phone drive.
Touchstone Energy® electric cooperatives of northeastern Indiana are member-owned electric utilities, serving nearly 80,000 members throughout Allen, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley counties, and into surrounding counties. |
