What are EnviroWatts?
One of Kosciusko REMC’s core principles is concern for community, and one way we fulfill this is by protecting the land and environment which supports us all.
We are currently achieving this through our EnviroWatt’s program, which benefits non-profit organizations focused on improving the environment locally in Kosciusko County and the surrounding area.
Our members are the ones who make this all possible. The program, a partnership with our power supplier, Wabash Valley Power Alliance, is completely voluntary and gives residential members the opportunity to purchase green energy while also giving back to their community.
Members who choose to participate donate 1 cent for each kilowatt-hour they use, up to 500 kWh. Those pennies – a maximum of $5 a month per member – make up the EnviroWatts fund, which then goes back to the community through grants to local environmental projects, and those kWh are guaranteed to be generated from renewable, environmentally-preferred sources.
